Shrek and his friends are spending summer vacation at Gaylord Opryland Resort—giving Middle Tennesseans the chance to create their own fairy tale summer with character-filled events for the whole family .
Beginning today and running weekends through Labor Day, Summer Fun with Shrek & Friends events will offer encounters with Shrek, Princess Fiona, Alex the Lion, Po, and Puss in Boots—world-famous characters made popular by such DreamWorks Animation films as Shrek, Kung Fu Panda and Madagascar. And, since Gaylord Opryland’s climate-controlled atriums are kept at 72 degrees year-round, those looking to escape the heat of the summer – or the possibility of unpredictable weather ruining a vacation – need look no further.
For the first time ever, the ShrekFeast Interactive Character Meal, is open to non-hotel guests. ShrekFeast takes place Saturdays and Sundays from 8:00 to 10:30 a.m. through Labor Day. Join Shrek, Princess Fiona and Puss in Boots for a fairytale feast fit for a king with tableside hugs and photos. Discover a Magic Fountain bubbling over with chocolate potions and Shrek-shaped waffles with syrup whilst solving riddles and puzzles on the quest to become an honorary Ogre or Ogress. Pricing is $29.95 for adults and $19.95 (children 4-11), plus tax and gratuity. Admission is free for children age 3 and under.
Fridays and Saturdays beginning at 6:00 p.m., children can participate in a FREE character parade in the Delta Atrium alongside favorite characters from Shrek, Madagascar,and Kung Fu Panda for a lively musical get-together that’s sure to entertain.
At Princess Fiona’s Cookie Castles, families can have sticky fun decorating their very own sugar cookie castle with candy and royal icing! Children will be dubbed an official “knight” or “lady” of Far Far Away by Princess Fiona, including an official souvenir royal scroll that’s theirs to keep. Pricing is $29.95 plus tax per family; times are 1:30 p.m., 3:00 p.m., 4:30 p.m.
Starting July 4, join Po and a Kung Fu master to train in the “art of awesomeness” at the Kung Fu Panda Academy of Awesomeness…Panda Style! Embark on an ALL-OUT Kung Fu Panda adventure and relive favorite moments from the DreamWorks Animation film Ku Fu Panda in this one-of-a-kind experience combining live theater, character interaction, team games and fun crafts. Pricing is $35 (includes one child and one parent). Children must be accompanied by a parent. Price of admission includes:

Yes, I have visited the Opryland Hotel several times. Last year I enjoyed the Creating Keepsakes Conference and this year I have gone for a ceremony honoring the latest crop of Boy Scout Eagles and Silver Beaver recipients. 🙂
We have been many times. The last time was for valentines day. Just to enjoy the atriums and enjoy pizza in the delta.

I used to go to the Opryland Hotel every Easter weekend for the Lads/Leaders Convention (that is still held their each year). It is a beautiful place and I’d love to take our family there to see what I got to enjoy every year growing up.
I visited Opryland Hotel once when I was in Nashville for a talent show. It was really neat.

I have only visited. I’d love to take by boys to visit the awesome city of Nashville and the Opryland Hotel. They would LOVE all the Dreamworks characters and it’s only 2 hours from us!
