Gaylord Opryland Resort begins Christmas decorating in the summer heat. Yes, they’ve begun their decorating for the 2013 holiday seasons already at Opryland Hotel.
It may be July, but the Nashville iconic Gaylord Opryland Resort – now part of the Marriott portfolio of brands, is already setting the stage for it’s 30th annual A Country Christmas, presented by Kodak.
Horticulturists at the iconic 2,882 room hotel are working hard stringing 2 million all-new LED Christmas lights outdoor – a process that takes several months to complate. Holiday vacation packages and event tickets officially went on sale this past Wednesday at ChristmasatGaylordOpryland.com
The event opens on November 15th, 2013, {our family is counting down the days!} the resort’s 9 acres of indoor gardens and waterfalls will be transformed into a fanciful world of thousands of twinkling lights, colorful trees, over-sized wreaths, and ornate details that provide breathtaking views from every direction.
ICE! Returns Bigger than Ever!
Gaylord Opryland’s signature ICE! attraction is bigger than ever this year with more than 2 million pounds of colorful ice sculptures and an all-new theme– Frosty the Snowman! Join Frosty and friends on their quest to the North Pole as you strole through frozen scenes hand carved by 40 artisans from China. This frosty fantasy world is kept at 9 degrees and visitors are kept cozy in oversize parkas. All new for 2013 is an interactive bonus ice area that transports families to the iconic holiday sights and sounds of NYC. The chilly adventure concludes with the wonder and majesty of a full Nativity of stunning crystal clear ice.
Awe-Inspiring Shows:
The Radio City Christmas Spectacular starring the Rockettes returns to the Grand Ole Opry House with the Rockettes legendary eye-high kicks, glamorous costumes, and a dazzling Rockettes finale called “Christmas Dreams” that will make Christmas more magical than ever before. If you haven’t seen the Rockettes before, or even if you have, this show is definitely one you want to catch this year. The Living Nativity is our favorite party. Breath taking.
Christmassy DreamWorks Experience: Of course, the hotel will be getting ready for Santa to come to town, but he isn’t the only jolly character guests will be able to meet. Gaylord Opryland Resort offers new and exciting interactive adventures with the beloved characters from DreamWorks franchises including Shrek, Kung Fu Panda, and Madagascar. Guests can dig into a character-themed feast, go on a DreamWorks-themed scavenger hunt, and even have some sticky fun at Gingy’s Gingerbread Decorating.
A Country Christmas has been hailed as one of the “Ten Great Places to Catch up with Santa” by USA Today; “The Most Christmassy Hotel in the Nation” by the Travel Channel‘s “Extreme Christmas;” one of the top 10 places to spend Christmas in the world by Travel & Leisure; and a “Nashville treasure” by Southern Living.

Ok so I just want to double check. The Christmas tree lighting is November 15th? We never miss it but they hardly ever advertise that event. We love the count down and music and meeting the ICE characters. Do you happen to know the time? Thanks again for this article!! My husband and I have not missed an ICE since we started dating.
