I thought I did a mixture of curriculum in the past. Nope – nothing compared to this year. All 3 boys have a hodgepodge of different books/computer programs they’re using for their school this year and I think this may be our best year yet. We have been doing this homeschool thing now for 8 years (excuse me as I pick my jaw up off the floor). I just cannot believe it’s been that long. While there are days that I contemplate sending them to the real school house on the big yellow bus, most days we sure do love it and the flexibility it provides.
So, what curriculum are we using this year? I’ll break it up by grade level.
1st Grade
Math: Singapore Math
Spelling: A Reason for Spelling
Handwriting: The Good & The Beautiful
Bible, Science, History/Geography, Language Arts: LifePac 1
Typing: The Good & The Beautiful
*I’m currently searching for a fun, easy art curriculum. My two younger boys LOVE art, but I hate it, so I need something VERY elementary. Do you have any suggestions?
4th Grade:
Math: Teaching Textbooks
Spelling: A Reason for Spelling
Handwriting: The Good & The Beautiful
Bible: Veritas Press
History: Veritas Press
Language Arts: LifePac 4 and Daily Grams
Science: LifePac 4
Typing: The Good & The Beautiful
7th Grade:
Math: Teaching Textbooks
Bible: Veritas Press
History: Veritas Press
Language Arts: Monarch and Daily Grams
Science: Monarch
Reading: We are stealing 1+1+1=1 ‘s Reading List for 7th Grade. J does LOTS of reading on his own as it is, but I love this list and am adding it as of now.
Writing: Still looking for a good writing curriculum for 7th grade. Any suggestions? We tried one last year and it just was not our favorite, so I’d love to hear what has worked for your 7th grade or what you would suggest.

For Art, we absolutely loved See The Light. http://seethelightshine.com
They have free lessons you can watch. We love their Art Projects.
Looks like y’all are going to have a fantastic year!
Wow! I need to check them out! Thanks for the suggestion, Joy!
You’re welcome!
love reading about how you are homeschooling, so interesting!
Thanks so much!
This is a really great post! I want to start some soft home school preschool here with my oldest and am kind of lost at where to start! I enjoy so much seeing what others use and how they structure their schools!
For preschoolers, we suggest just have fun and do some learning while you’re having fun. Trips to the library to check out books, park play dates, children’s museums, etc. Also, check out my review of Kindergarten ToolKit. It’s a wonderful curriculum for preschoolers.
Thanks for sharing all the curriculum ideas. This year we are starting pre-school with my oldest and we are going to do the Good and Beautiful.
Yes, we love Good and the Beautiful too! Great choice!
