Even though we live in the Nashville area, we love visiting Opryland Hotel and making it our part of our stay-cation.
I was born in Nashville and after living here for quite some time, I feel like I know Opryland Hotel like the back of my hand. When I was younger {and the park was still around}, we had season passes to Opryland Amusement Park. That and the Opryland Hotel were a big part of our weekends back then. The amusement park is now an outlet mall {which I LOVE Opry Mills} but the hotel is still around…and it’s so special to us! I’m loving it more and more now that I have kids who enjoy it so much there. They ask if we can go to the hotel and stay quite often.
Here are some of my tips to help you navigate your vacation planning and your stay at the Opryland Hotel.
1. Take advantage of the great deals Opryland offers. There is always a discount or special event price around. Also, be watching my blog to take advantage of these special Opryland Hotel deals.

2. Every room at Opryland Hotel is wonderful, however if this is your first time visiting definitely take advantage of the Premium Garden View Rooms. You’ll get a spacious balcony which is great for relaxing in the morning with your cup of coffee or sitting out at night after the kids have gone to bed. This is our favorite type of room!
3. Even though check-in is usually at 3pm, arrive early and start enjoying the hotel during the day. {And sometimes you can even check in earlier, just ask the attendant at the front desk upon arriving}
4. The restaurants in the hotel are all amazing! Some of our favorites are:
Cascades American Cafe – they have amazing Tomato Basil soup and Caesar salad.
Jack Daniel’s Restaurant – perfect for those who love bar-b-q, burgers, and steaks. Definitely a restaurant you need to try while staying at the hotel.
Old Hickory Steakhouse – even though its a little more pricier than the other restaurants in the hotel, this is a MUST GO TO while visiting. It’s setting is an antebellum style mansion. Breathtaking to say the least!

5. My boys love the pools at the Opryland Hotel. Everytime we stay there, as soon as we arrive, they ask if we can go swimming right then! There are three pools to enjoy – two outdoor pools and one indoor pool. So, no matter the season, bring your bathing suits, there is always a pool open!
6. The Grand Ole Opry, The General Jackson Showboat, The Ryman Auditorium, Opry Mills Shopping Mall {re-opening in late March 2012}, all these Nashville attractions are on Opryland grounds or very close by.
7. The Relache Spa is an amazing part of the Opryland Hotel experience. With over 27,000 square feet in just the spa alone, you definitely will be pampered while visiting.
8. Take a ride through the hotel {Yes, I said “through”} on the Delta Riverboat Tour.
There isn’t a “best” time to visit the Opryland Hotel. Anytime is perfect. However, one of our favorite times to visit are during the holidays. You have lots of activities to choose from even in the winter… ICE! , A Country Christmas, The Rockettes, and the entire hotel (both in and outside) are decorated so beautifully for Christmas. Definitely a holiday experience you won’t forget.
Consider me your travel agent or “go to gal” for Opryland. I’d love to answer any questions you have about your visit or planning your next vacation {or stay-cation for all the Nashville area friends}.
*I’m excited we’ll be visiting Gaylord Palms in Orlando in the next few months and I can’t wait to bring you more info on our stay there.*
