Our third day in Chattanooga was just as fun as the previous days. We went to the Creative Discovery Museum and Rock City. {we loved each!}
We spent about 2.5 hours at the Creative Discovery Museum and we had to pry our kids out of there. They didn’t want to leave.
We spent lots of time at the water area. This was my 3 year olds favorite area of the museum. He could’ve stayed there all day.
My 6 year old loved the digging area in the Dinosaur exhibit. He put on the hat and started digging for fossils. The digging area was bigger than I expected and allowed for several kids to get in together and play.
Do your kids love music? There is an entire section dedicated to music. Every instrument you can imagine is there for your kids to play. From a room dedicated to all things procession, to string instruments, and more.
One of their favorite rooms was an area that looked like a theater. There was a stage, and a sound board with lights. My 3 year old was the actor and my 6 year old was the sound/lights tech. It was so fun to watch their imaginations run wild!
Whether you have an hour or all day, you must take your kids to the Creative Discovery Museum. I only touched on a few of the exhibits in this post, but there are many, many more!

Our last stop was at Rock City. I didn’t know quite what to expect. I’d heard great things about this attraction, but wasn’t sure how long we’d last there since everyone was so tired from our weekend and it was pretty warm.
We got there and had a choice to take either the Enchanted Trail or the Wheelchair/Stroller Trail. Since our little guy was in a stroller and was already asleep, we chose to take the Wheelchair/Stroller Trail. I was nervous we wouldn’t get the same “effect” as we would if we had taken the Enchanted Trail, but we had a wonderful time!
The walk was beautiful. There were so many different kinds of plants, trees, flowers along the trail. The rock formations are estimated to be about 200 million years old, and we had Panoramic views of seven states from 1,700 feet above sea level. The gardens feature more than 400 different species of native wildflowers, plants, shrubs and trees. It really was like nothing I’ve ever seen before.
Located atop Lookout Mountain in Georgia just six miles from downtown Chattanooga, Tennessee, Rock City Gardens is an enchanted, 4,100-foot walking trail showcasing soaring rock formations, caves and lush gardens. Nearly a half million people from all over the world visit this natural attraction each year.
