We love to Cruise. It’s our favorite way to travel.
We’ve cruised with Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Princess, and Celebrity to Alaska, all over the Caribbean, Mexico, and the Bahamas. While these cruises have been wonderful, we wanted to go with Norwegian Cruise Line the next time we went cruising. My husband turns 30 in December and what better way to celebrate than to go on a cruise. Why did we choose Norwegian?
- Free Style Cruising: We wanted to try it out – what is it? No set dining times, no assigned tables, no dress code, and more restaurant options on the ship.
- NCL offers more of a selection when it comes to staterooms. While most cruise lines offer the standard inside, ocean view, balcony, and suite staterooms, Norwegian takes it to a whole new level. You can choose between the standard staterooms mentioned above or enjoy your accommodations in the Garden Villa or Courtyard Villa. We chose the balcony – cannot wait to see our view from our stateroom!
- Norwegian has activities on board that no other cruise line offers. Like what? How about Blue Man Group, and The Second City comedy troupe.
- 24 Hour Room Service – yep you heard that right! Feeling hungry at 3am? No problem – just call room service!
- Traveling with your kids and want a night on the ship without your little ones tagging along? No problem! NCL offers complimentary childcare.
- The Spa. I always have to check out the spa and get some sort of treatment while cruising. The Spa’s sound amazing on Norwegian.
- Norwegian will give you the Best Price-Guarateed.
I want to hear from you! Have you cruised before? If so, where to? If you haven’t, where would you like to cruise to and with who?

We have cruised on Norwegian before, on the Norwegian Jade leaving out of Rome and sailing to Greece, Turkey, and Egypt. I have to say, I was not very impressed. The customer service was eh. They charge for things other cruise lines do not (most of the restaurants, for instance) and they also charge for child care when the ship is in port. The kicker for me with Norwegian, though, was during the Captain’s meet and greet, he made some very derogatory comments about women (female cruise ship captains in particular). Because of that I would never cruise with them again. It was truly a pin-dropping moment in that room. There were definitely good parts of it, but overall it seemed kind of so so. Sorry to be a negative nelly. I don’t even know you and you’re probably wondering why I would even bother to comment like this, but we have traveled a lot and always appreciate hearing feedback from others, even if it’s not all rosy. Blessings to you, and I really hope your trip works out well for you. I’m sure many things vary depending on which of the NCL ships you are on.

I hate that you had such a bad experience! We cruise and travel a lot too. We’ve always had wonderful experiences with NCL. We aren’t fans of Royal Caribbean and Carnival though.
