It was when my oldest was a few months old, I began to see the importance of modeling prayer for him. My silent prayers throughout the day weren’t going to cut it.
I began praying aloud. I’d pray with him before meals and while we were playing. Even though he was too young to understand, we prayed together. I enjoyed these sweet moments and it seemed like the right thing to do, but then I started to wonder if he was really learning anything?
When he was 18 months, we sat down for lunch one day while we were having a picnic on our deck and he said “Pray Mommy” and grabbed my hand. He got it! And my heart melted. He was understanding that talking to God was part of our daily routine.
We now have a larger family, but we still make prayer a part of our day. We pray before meals, when we see an emergency vehicle pass us on the road, at the end of the day, etc.
I love praying with my boys. However, I love praying FOR them too.
The e-book by Amanda ,”Praying God’s Word For Your Kids”, is a book all moms should go through alone or with a friend. I’m going to be covering this book for the next several weeks on Monday’s. I’d love you to join in and pray scriptures for your children. You don’t need the book to follow along {although it is a great tool to add to your library and FREE just by subscribing to Amanda’s blog}. Just come find the post each Monday, read, pray, and post about it if you’d like.
I’m looking forward to praying with you for our children.
