Timbali Crafts is an organization that I’ve recently fallen in love with. Since it’s Fair Tuesday today, I found it appropriate to let ya’ll in on a little secret. How you can help women keep their jobs in Swaziland, Africa and buy adorable products for someone this Christmas.
About Timbali Crafts:
“The women who create Timbali Crafts are all volunteer cooks at feeding centers for orphans and vulnerable children in Swaziland, Africa. In this tiny nation with the highest HIV/AIDS rate and lowest life expectancy in the world, the needs are immense. The Timbali women help to feed more than 2500 children each day, fulfilling a vital need in their rural communities. Most of the women have either been widowed or abandoned and are raising up to ten children on their own. Many are Grandmothers who are now raising their orphaned grand children. The women meet together each week for Bible study and to cut fabric for the products they are working on. Timbali Crafts has been able to provide the women with small loans to purchase their own machines (hand powered) so that they are able to complete their work in their homes. The Timbali women are also able to participate in a matching savings program throughout the year. They receive their savings back in January just before school fees are due for their children. A highlight of the year is our Timbali Women’s Camp held each August–a much needed weekend away with lots of time to spoil and minister to these amazing ladies.
I recently received a tote from Timbali Crafts and have used it everyday since it came in the mail. The sling I got was the “Lucy Sling” and its just the right size! The Lucy Sling came with a matching zipper pouch which is perfect for makeup or medication or small things you want zipped up inside the bag. The bag itself has a long, cross-body strap, inside and outside pocket, and a guava button and lop closure. It’s 100% cotton fabric, with a heavy twill lining. This bag is named after Lucy Dlamini, one of the original Timbali women who passed away in 2009. Lucy was always full of joy and encouragement and Timbali Crafts was so happy to have one of their most popular products bear her name.
I’m so excited to be giving away one of the Lucy Slings & zippered pouches this week in honor of Fair Tuesday! One lucky winner will receive this same exact bag in “blue starry night” and zippered pouch.
Giveaway ends Saturday, December 7th at 12:00am CST. Open to US Residents only.
