Boys.
There’s nothing like them. Really. I mean who else could be covered in mud, have bad breath, and come in telling you they love you and you just melt at their sweetness. Probably no one.
I have three of them {ages 8, 5, and almost 2}. Whew, they keep me busy and life is never a dull moment. I can’t imagine life without them. God gave me boys for a reason, and I love it.
My friend, Brooke McGlothlin has a new book out that I absolutely love and was hard to put it down when I was reading it. Praying for Boys: Asking God for the Thing They NEED MOST.
“Praying for Boys: Instead of trying harder to change your boy’s behavior or worrying about his future, enjoy the peace that comes when you pray specific prayers for him straight from the Bible. This encouraging book helps you target your prayers on what your son needs most — from patience and self-control to having a pure heart and making wise decisions.
Today, you can star giving whatever concerns you have to God and
- learn to fight for your son’s heart in prayer
- see how even quick prayers make a difference
- understand boys’ deepest struggles, no matter their age
- rest in knowing that God is the only One who can change your son’s heart
Written for moms but great for dads {and grandparents} too, this easy-to-use book is filled with uplifting stories and biblical wisdom that will equip you on your journey to raising a godly man.”
“…I wanted to raise men who would be fife rent — respecters of women, lovers of God. Men who would work with their hands, take commitments seriously, and protect the least of these. Men who were warriors, protectors, worshipers, peace-makers, and friends.”
“Our boys need faithful Christian parents now more than ever, and we’re failing them. But it doesn’t have to be that way. We can choose to rejoin the war for their hearts of our sons…today.”
A little about the author:
Brooke McGlothlin has encouraged thousands of moms toward a richer prayer life as co-founder of the popular online community for mothers of boys, the MOB Society. She’s the author of several books and resources for moms, and lives in the mountains of southwest Virginia with her husband, their two sons, and two Labs.
Today, I’m so excited to be giving away a copy of Praying for Boys. Who wants to win? This giveaway is open to US Residents ONLY and will end on Friday, January 24th at 12:01am CST. Simply use the widget below to enter.

I’ll admit that this is the very thing that drives me crazy most times, but what I love the most is seeing my boy’s brain working in ways that I could never fathom ~ whether it’s constructing something new, or NEEDING to climb and jump off of something that girls wouldn’t necessarily feel drawn to…. 🙂

My favorite thing so far about raising (a) boy (16 mos.) is seeing his sensitive heart already (despite his “fire-ball” of a personality-which I love too). Seeing his sensitive heart already, though, encourages me to continue to pray for him and his developing character even more…

All the crazy non-stop antics! I wouldn’t trade it for the world, but I wouldn’t mind a little nap now and then 🙂
