The Root Collective is a favorite around here! You know I love fashion, especially fashion that has fair trade involved. One of my favorite things that I own is the ballet flat. Aren’t they adorable?
Haven’t heard of TRC? They feature crafted items handmade in Guatemala, Peru, and Kenya. I love that The Root Collective has partnered with two non-profits to help “give back.” 10% of every purchase you make will be donated to the non-profit of your choice. Ummm, amazing! Lemonade International provides education, food, and health services to residents in Limonada, a slum in Guatemala City. Come Unity works to provide education, clean water, and self-sufficiency to communities in Africa.
When I heard that The Root Collective was about to launch their Spring line, I had to get on it. I treated myself to a birthday gift and bought the blue peep toe ballet flat. Perfect for Spring and Summer (which I hope will show up very soon).
Their new line for Spring is absolutely amazing! Wow, when I didn’t think their products could get any better, they did! What’s your favorite from the new Spring line?
More about the products featured in the above image:
- Celery Striped Infinity Scarf: We’re a bit obsessed with this one! Each of our scarves is handwoven in the ancient art by the most amazing Mayan women in the highlands of Guatemala and takes 15 hours for each scarf. It is made from soft cotton and feels so luxurious!
- Jade Diamond Clutch: Perfect color? Possibly. Not only is the punch of color amazing, but the detail fabric is absolutely incredible. The diamond pattern is handwoven by our partner weavers in Guatemala, and the embroidery is completed during the weaving process. It is a part of the fabric, rather than on top of it. The diamond pattern fabric takes 10 days to create 1 meter of fabric!
- Grey Diamond Ballet Flat: This is another piece that has the amazing handwoven diamond pattern detail. We fell in love with this patterning and couldn’t help but use it everywhere! These shoes are extremely versatile, feature our handwoven fabric, and are handmade in the slum of La Limonada in Guatemala City by our partner artisan named Otto. We love knowing that #OttoMadeMyShoes
- Mustard Seed Necklace: This is one of the first pieces from our new partnership with Neema Project in Kenya. We are thrilled to be partnering with these women artisans who have overcome so much. These young women were all in high-risk situations where they could have become child brides, prostitutes, or something else equally terrible. Through Neema Project, they are being given vocational training and preparing to support themselves. The seeds are from a Mrembe bush, which is native to Kenya.
And I have a special discount code just for you, my friends! Let’s celebrate the launch of the new Spring line from The Root Collective. Use code TUCKERSPRING for 10% off your purchase. Valid now through March 18th, 2014. Happy Shopping!
