This year was by far my favorite year yet. I’m not sure what it was but I got SO much more out of the speakers this year than in the past. I mean, they were awesome. I’m excited to share with you my top 12 favorite quotes or thoughts from the 2015 Teach Them Diligently Convention in Nashville.
{oh, and there is still time for you to register for a Teach Them Diligently convention near you. They’ll be in Atlanta this coming weekend, Sandusky, Ohio on May 28th, and Dallas, Texas on July 16th}
Barbara Rainey from Ever Thine Home:
- “We can shape our child, but we can’t control your child after he/she is gone.”
Deuteronomy 5:6-7: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”
- “If you’re an ambassador for Christ, what does that make your home? An embassy for the KING.”
- “Introduce your children to the king who they belong to. Your home is an embassy to the world.”
- Create memorable moments in your home. Make traditions because they are like glue, they make families stick together. They also help kids make great life choices.”
Kendra Fletcher from Preschoolers and Peace:
- “What if I told myself the gospel every day, what if I reminded myself of whose I am and where I am getting my value, purpose, significance, worth, and identity from?”
- “Pace yourself – don’t be in such a hurry that you forget what your goals are. Ask yourself and your husband what your long term goals are for your kids and family.”
- “Pause, take a breath, and play with your kids.”
Luke 16:10: “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.”
- “When you want to get to know someone, you ask them questions. So, ask your kids questions.”
- “One of the best gifts you have with your homeschooling is ‘time’.”
- “It’s not the quantity of time, but the quality of time you have with your kids.”
- “Christian homes should be an environment bursting with conversation.”
- “Give 10 words of praise for every criticism.”
These are just a few of the MANY sessions we attended and were encouraged by. It’s a weekend of encouragement and it’s so rejuvenating.
Have you attended one of the Teach Them Diligently conventions before? What was your favorite part?
