We just camped there last week for 4 nights and had a great time {as usual}. One of the premier campgrounds in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, the Townsend / Great Smokies KOA is surrounded by the mountains and beautiful forests. Nestled up against the Little River, this campground provides a great setting for relaxing, putting your feet up and enjoying nature after a hard day of hiking or shopping.
All of the campsites have picnic tables and campfire rings. Alot have paved patios, too. For great camping try the full hookup level grassy sites. They have free cable TV (which we normally don’t use because when we go camping, we want to be as “screen free” as we can), and 30 or 50 amp service. The water/electric and tent camping site areas range from semi-sunny to heavily wooded and secluded. It’s beautiful!
Our favorite spots at this campground are along the river. We always book in advance enough so we can be sure to get one of these sites. Sites #121-123 are our favorites. We stayed at 121 this past trip, but have stayed on all three sites and love them all the same.
The bathhouses are so incredibly clean. This is a HUGE thing when you’re talking about campgrounds. Like, very nice!

Yay! Thank you for this review. 🙂 We always are looking for new campgrounds to try out, but we always question the sites to stay at. The maps aren’t always telling of how the site really is.

That looks like a great campground! I am ready for the rain to be over here in North Texas so we can go camping. We were going to go this past weekend but the campground had flooded from all the rain. So we are ready for some good camping weather!
