We have been back “in session” for almost three weeks now. It feels good to be back in our routine and moving forward in the new school year. Our homeschool curriculum this year, is by far our favorite!
This year, we chose to do a hodge lodge of homeschool curriculum. Some of it we have previously used in the past, some of it is new. All of it we purchased at the Teach Them Diligently Homeschool Convention last March. The vendor hall. Ya’ll. If you haven’t ever been to a Teach Them Diligently convention, you must go for the amazing speakers and that vendor hall. It’s the best to be able to browse and browse almost every curriculum vendor out there and get your hands on the books and supplies of each of them. It’s one of our favorite things about Teach Them Diligently Nashville.
So, what are we using this year?
5th Grade:
Monarch by Alpha Omega is our choice for most of the subjects for my 5th grader. So far, he’s LOVING it! Anytime access and no installation makes it easy for my son (or any age child grade 3-12) to just log on and get his school completed each day. One of my favorite things about this curriculum is that it can be completely paperless. It does most of the grading for you! There’s so much more we love about this curriculum, I could be here all day telling you about it. Go check it out for yourself – I know you’ll love it too.
For handwriting, we’re using Writing Through the Bible by Luke and Trisha Gilkerson at Intoxicated on Life. We got a chance to hear them speak at Teach Them Diligently Nashville, and speak with them about their resources and fell in love. How wonderful that our kids can memorize scriptures by writing them out. We also have a family devotional book that they wrote that goes along with the handwriting book. For once, my boys are enjoying handwriting!
Khan Academy is what we’re using again for Math this year. It’s our second year to use Khan Academy for Math and it’s going great so far. It’s free and is a mastery based curriculum which we love for our kids. Have you checked out Khan before?
2nd Grade:
We are using LifePac by Alpha Omega for majority of our second grade curriculum. Last year, my son loved it and we wanted to do more with it this year. We’re using it for Language Arts, Spelling, Bible, Science, History.
My second grader is also using Writing Through the Bible. It’s so great that both boys can do this together!
Pre-K:
I discovered Kindergarten Tool Kit on Instagram and immediately fell in love with the curriculum.
It’s great that zero planning goes into this and zero trips to the store for supplies are needed to use this curriculum. The way the lessons are planned out are easy for parent and child and are just the right amount of time to keep the child interested and learning.
Just for you all, some of my favorite peeps, I have a fun discount code for you to use to purchase your very own Kindergarten Tool Kit. Use code THANKS10 to take $10 off your order.
That’s A Wrap:
There you have it! Our 2016/2017 curriculum choice. What about you? What curriculum are you using this year with your kids?
