My oldest recently told me that Fall was his favorite season because of the great weather and because of the character pumpkins we make each year. Our homeschool co-op has the kids create a pumpkin from their favorite book and share about it. That’s where we got this idea, but we use these pumpkins all season long as decoration in our school room.
It’s pretty easy. All you do is have your kids pick a favorite book of theres and go find a pumpkin at your local store or pumpkin patch similar to the shape of a character from that book. Paint, decorate, and present why you chose that character and book.
If you’re like me, you want it to be super cute and almost perfect. But, this isn’t your project, but your kids project. Let their creative juices flow. Let them decide and create it themselves.
A couple years ago my oldest chose Diary of a Wimpy Kid and my middle son chose Don’t Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late. I love how they turned out, don’t you?
This year, my oldest chose the book, Wonder and my middle son chose Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Still so creative and cute!
What characters would your kids choose?
