There are SO many farm tours and field trip ideas out there, but which one do you choose to visit? If you’re like us, we try to visit all of them (or at least want to visit all of them), so we loaded up and headed to Hopkinsville, KY earlier this week to visit Christian Way Farm.
Grinding corn to feed the farm animals, rides on the lawnmower train, playing a round of mini golf together, learning about what it takes to keep up a farm, swinging at several of the playgrounds, gathering eggs from chickens (which we are already pro’s at), playing in the corn truck (which is the equivalent of a giant sandbox – perfect for your sensory loving kids) and enjoying a few hours away out in the middle of the Kentucky fields was a morning well spent.
Christian Way Farm is Kentucky’s ONLY petting zoo and mini golf ag-venture – all in one! It’s definitely a fun day trip (just 1.5 hours from Nashville) to take as a family (or with a group of friends or a field trip with your school) either in the Spring, Summer, or Fall. In the Spring, you can head to the farm to see the new baby animals. In the fall, they have fun Fall activities for the entire family (this usually starts the Saturday after Labor Day each year) which means their hayrides are available throughout the day to take you to the corn mazes and U-pick pumpkin patch. You can also pick and purchase from the selection of standard orange and decorative pumpkins. You may pick and purchase from the selection of standard orange or decorative pumpkins. There is also a haycastle, where kids and parents can run, explore, or simply cruise through a castle built from hay! No matter the season, we highly recommend Christian Way Farm. You can read more about the farm’s history here. What a joy it was getting to chat with Miss Janie throughout our visit on the farm. She was so kind to our kids and was so hospitable.
I loved all the farm animals but as many of you know, I want to own a few miniature cows someday, so I’d say my favorite animal we were with were the cows and being able to bottle feed the calf was the highlight of my morning there.
If you head out to Christian Way Farm, let me know. I’d love to hear about your visit. You can follow them on Instagram, too. You can view all their pricing, hours, and season pass info here.
