I’ve seen it all over the internet and blogosphere. And it makes me so sad. I’m not sure why it happens or why people feel the need to bring others down. The name calling, gossiping and harsh negative words have got to stop.
There is a place for everyone out there – so why not encourage?
Why is it so hard to be encouraging instead of discouraging? Why can’t we all be happy for eachother and root eachother along? I think the encouragement, kind words, and help I’ve received from others has been one of the biggest blessings that I’ve found in blogging. And, I’m trying to bless others the same way.
What should you do if you run into someone who is giving you a hard time?
1. Pray for them.
2. If you’ve tried to work it out and tried to make things ok, agree to disagree and move on. Turn the other cheek and keep doing what you’re doing. You’re doing great! The fact that they feel they need to bring you down is on them.
3. If you give in to the “he said , she said” {so to speak} game they’re trying to play, that is giving the other person exactly what they want. Our God wants us to encourage one another in love….not to bicker.
“Let us love one another, for love comes from God.” 1st John 4:7
So, when another blogger has something great happen to them…tell them how happy you are! When someone else who you don’t really know has an awesome post, let them know – comment on their blog.
Get to know others…I promise you’ll be blessed. Don’t assume the worst of folks until you’ve really made an effort to get to know their hearts.
Challenge: Comment on at least two blogs today that will be of encouragement to the author and readers.

can i get an #AMEN?! *get to know their hearts* – blogging or no blogging. in any situation in life. i couldn’t agree more. there is too much room for error in just assuming. well said, my dear.

Yes, too much room for error in assuming – I agree. Great point!

It is sad, isn’t it? I have to disagree about competition, though. There is nothing at all wrong with competing! It’s the spirit with which we approach our competitors that matters. You really have to compete with someone at some point. We’re all working on the same planet with the same rules and many of the same ambitions, unless you’re just not trying to do anything….which, come to think of it, is what I do. ;0)

Yes, I totally agree about the competition. So sad that we can’t just all be nice. 🙂
I couldn’t agree more, great post!
Thanks for stopping by! xoxo
Meghan,
I love this post! I think we as a society spend way more time being negative than positive. I have caught myself doing it time and again. It takes a concentrated effort to encourage and uplift, but its what we have been called to do as Christians.
Thanks for the post!
Denise
You’re a gem! xoxo
Yes! Thank you, Meghan. Encouraging is such a win-win situation, I don’t know why people don’t do it more often. Great post. By the way, you have a beautiful blog here! Love the colors and layout! 🙂
Great point about it being a win-win situation. So true!
Your site is always so encouraging! Great post.
You’re too sweet. xoxo
Thank you! This is so important, and something that I feel often gets overlooked. Perfect reminder to focus on what it important!
Thanks for stopping by!
Meghan, I couldn’t agree more. I see it and have felt it so often, even among woman whom I thought were my friends. How does the saying go, “accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative”.
Yes, its shocking. So sorry it’s happened to you. xoxo
I am always astounded by how quickly women will rise to bring someone down … and yet not rise to lift them up! Always a pleasure over here, always uplifting … you are a treasure 🙂
Thank you so much for your sweet sweet words friend!
It’s not coincidental that I just had a post go through my email titled, “Women Judging Women”. I think that’s what it comes down to.
Why wouldn’t someone want to be encouraging to others? I guess thats what we would call a sin nature. Walking in the flesh; which is a selfish little thang!
I gladly accept that challenge! <3
Great point Kela! xoxo
Thanks for the reminder, Meghan. I sometimes get really down because of all the meanness in this world. It’s so much more pleasant to be kind. If we all took the high road, just think how different this world would be! Give me the tingles just thinking about it! 🙂
this is great. and encouraging. so glad i ran into your blog – just subscribed. and looking forward to knowing you through reading your words.
Thank you! SO excited to have made a new friend and cannot wait to get to know you too!
Great post!! We bloggers have to stick together and praise one another. It is difficult to put yourself out there day after day. Thanks for the reminder. 🙂
