Better Life Bags is one of those businesses you can’t help but fall in love with. You all know I love everything about ethical fashion and empowering men and women to have a job. Normally when we think of fair-trade, we think of other countries. Rebecca Smith had a passion for that, however saw there was a real need right here in the United. States. Rebecca and her family live in a low-income area of Detroit where the unemployment rate is 20%. What’s their mission?
Rebecca Smith has a huge heart for helping others. She and her family hire women, who otherwise cannot get jobs, to work for BLB. They rent them a sewing machine and tools while teaching them a skill set that allows them to become a primary or secondary provider in their families. Most of these women are first generation immigrants from countries such as Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan, Yemen, and Bangladesh, so we are also able to provide them with much needed fellowship and friendship as they visit their homes to deliver fabric and pick up orders.

There are ready to ship bags at Better Life Bags, but my favorite part is you can create your own. I love all the bags but wanted to start with an Leather Phone Wallet. I have so many handbags and purses that I really needed something small that I could throw in one of the boys bags or just carry as a wallet and someplace to put my iPhone. Then I saw their Leather Phone Wallet and I immediately fell in love – even before I received mine.
Isn’t it amazing? I love the snap on the strap so that I can attach it to the stroller. Another favorite feature is the zipper part of the bag. This is perfect to place your ID and credit cards in. It holds exactly what you need, and nothing more. I don’t carry much in my bags so this is perfect.
The inside pouch of the wallet is padded and holds most iPhone cases – just not Otterboxes. It’s very secure and won’t go anywhere or scratch while in the wallet. Approximate size: 5.5″ x 3.5″
I love all the Better Life Bags and accessories. But my favorites are the Brynnda and Ashley.
I love accessories and bags – that’s not a secret. However, what I love even more is the fact that when you purchase one of these bags, you’re helping a woman sustain a job in the lower income areas of Detroit. Every bag and product from Better Life Bags has a story.
