Black History Month always falls in February each year. It is an annual recognition of the history, achievements, and influence of the Black community. As you know we homeschool and usually incorporate Black History Month into our regular curriculum, but it doesn’t just start and end in February for us.
I believe it is important that we as a family, community, and nation take EVERY opportunity to educate ourselves, uplift Black creators and small businesses, and advocate for change.
So, throughout the month of February and throughout the rest of the year, you’ll see Black History resources and lesson ideas here and on my social media. You’ll also find POC small shop shares on my social media, and guests posts from Black creators and business owners.
But, to kick things off, I’m sharing a few of my favorite Black History Month children’s books. These are just a few books we have read in the past or are currently on our reading list and library check-out list for February. You can find the entire list HERE.
