Family, Food, Feudin’ and Fun- that’s the theme of The Hatfield & McCoy Dinner Show. We love going to dinner show’s in Pigeon Forge and had never been to Hatfield and McCoy’s, so we decided to try it out on our most recent trip.
The Venue
The actual location and venue was wonderful! There are some shows that are “almost there” as far as decorating and atmosphere goes. But Hatfield & McCoy has it down. You walk in through the front doors and you immediatly are in the middle of the feud. You enter through the gift shop which is one of the best gift shop’s I’ve seen at any of the dinner show venue’s in Pigeon Forge, and you follow the crowd to the main room – the auditorium. Next, you’re taken to your table and your “Cousin” (waiter/waitress) comes out to take your drink order.
The Food
The food. The best we’ve had at any dinner show. Whooee it’s good!
“Granny cooked up a lot of fried chicken and country pulled pork shoulder barbecue! Add smashed taters, creamy cole slaw, buttery corn on the cob, cornbread, creamy vegetable soup and Granny’s special dessert and you’ll need to loosen up your belt! Best dinner in town.”
Couldn’t agree more. It’s wonderful. And the creamy vegetable soup? I could eat that all day long. When you go, make sure you get the sweet tea. It’s wonderful! I actually had half sweet, half unsweet because the sweet is really sweet, but goodness, it’s one of the best sweet tea’s I’ve had in a while. Oh, and the food is all you can eat. I haven’t seen that at a dinner show ever. We made sure to get seconds on the BBQ and mashed potatoes. We definitely gave it a two thumbs up for the food.
The Show
Remind yourself before going in to the show that this is not a serious show. You have to loosen up and roll up your sleeves. Then you’ll be able to enjoy the cheesy jokes and silly dances. Whether you’re city-folk or country cuzins, you’ll love the singing and dancing, mighty feats of strength, jaw dropping stunts and side-splitting comedy. There’s something here for everybody! The theme comes from the famous feud between the Hatfield and McCoy families back in 1863 in Kentucky and West Virginia. Don’t expect everything to be accurate to the story, this show is just entertainment. Pure entertainment.
It’s definitely a must see when visiting Pigeon Forge and is a great attraction for the entire family! When you book your tickets, ask about the multi-show discount. The same company owns The Smoky Mountain Opry, The Comedy Barn, and the Blackwood Morning Variety Show. Additional show are only an extra $15 each.
