Old Hickory Steakhouse {Gaylord Opryland Hotel}

We were looking for somewhere different to eat at for our 11th Anniversary last week. It seems like we always go to the same places. While we do love Stoney River or something similar, we wanted to try something different.

This year, we went to Old Hickory Steakhouse in Opryland Hotel. The hotel has an amazing selection of restaurants and the food is always good no matter where you eat, so we knew we were in for a real treat.

The atmosphere is wonderful! The gardens, waterfalls, and the antebellum house make for an award winning atmosphere. It’s that good.

The food was wonderful! We had the Chilled Seafood Platter as an appetizer and woah, it was so good! They have the best shrimp cocktail I’ve ever had. For our meal, we both had a Wedge Salad, Ribeye, and creamed spinach, lobster mac-n-cheese, and mashed potatoes. All are wonderful but the mashed potatoes are our of this world. Also note that the sides are meant to share with someone else. And as weird as it sounds, my husband says they have the best butter he’s ever had in his life.

 

The service was wonderful. We had Wayne as our waiter and he knew his stuff. No matter the question you have, he knew exactly what you were talking about and could describe each item on the menu. He also knew a lot about the historical facts of the hotel and food. I’m sure all the waiters and staff are wonderful, but if you’re able to, ask for Wayne when you visit.

Once again the Opryland Hotel does not disappoint. It continues to be one of our favorite places in Nashville.
