I grew up in Atlanta and loved it! What a fun town to live in since there is always something going on or somewhere you need to be. Now that I’m grown up, married, and have kids of my own, I’ve found a different liking for the city. What once was fun to go downtown and just hang out, doesn’t really happen much when you have kids, especially when they are at a young age. Now, when we visit cities, we look for museums, aquariums, fun restaurants, and somewhere with a good, family atmosphere. Since we homeschool, we love to make a “field trip” out of anything.

So, I’ve made a list of our favorite things to do in Atlanta. Most {if not all} are family friendly and we highly recommend them. {click on each place to take you to their website}

Great list! We live 150 miles north of Atlanta, and have only been down for Stone Mountain and Six Flags. I would love to go back to Stone Mountain this summer. I’ll have to check out some of these places too.

Love your list! Makes me miss Atlanta, I used to live about an hour from there.
Cafe Intermezzo is the perfect place to go for dessert and coffee. (They also serve meals there, though I’ve never been.)
The Shakespeare Tavern is amazing! If you ever get a chance to check out a show, do so. They are so fun! 🙂

We live in the Northern suburbs of Atlanta … great list! I would second Tonya’s recommendation of Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield – it is a great place to visit and a wonderful field trip. Lots of Civil War History.

Meghan — we love the Mayfield Dairy (on the north side) and also the Little White House (south side). The Atlanta History Museum and the Center for Puppetry Arts are also two of our favorites.
Safe travels. 🙂
