When we first started, we did school at the kitchen table. That worked ok for a while, but I found myself seeing things in the kitchen and living room that needed to be done. Like the laundry or dishes. I wasn’t able to focus solely on our oldest who was doing school. Then, we moved the school stuff to the bonus room. We use our bonus room as a playroom/tv room, and put our little school area towards the front of that room. Well, my toddler at the time kept interrupting our school days (and understandably so, he didn’t know any better) and we found it hard to concentrate. When my then toddler was out of his crib, and moved into the big boys room, we turned the nursery into a school room. This was in January of this year, and it has worked wonders! If you have an extra room or a room that isn’t used much, I highly recommend using it for school.
Let’s take the tour inside our homeschool room….
This is from the door to the room. It was already blue, and while it’s probably not my first choice for color, it will do for now. On the wall with the wooden Africa sign, I’m going to add a wooden Tennessee sign as well as a few others places that are special to us. Sort of like our own little Geography wall.
