It’s no secret that we love spending time at Gaylord Opryland. We’ve been making memories there for over 13 years now and each year it just keeps getting better and better. Our favorite time to visit is during the Christmas season and this year, they did not disappoint with all the So Much Christmas festivities.
2020 has definitely been the year that looks different, hasn’t it? But that doesn’t mean we can’t find joy and try to make things as normal as we possibly can. Which is what I love at the Gaylord Hotels – specifically Gaylord Opryland. Masks must be worn for anyone over the age of 2 in public places and around the resort and social distancing protocols are in place for you to still have fun while staying safe .
So, with all the options for entertainment and activities at Gaylord Opryland during the Christmas season, which ones do you make sure not to miss?
I Love Christmas Movies – an interactive, 17,000 multi-sensory experience that you walk through with a guide that makes you feel like you’re on the set of one of your favorite Christmas movies. Some of these movies include: Elf, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, The Polar Express, A Christmas Story, and more! We have been through this attraction several times and it gets better every time we go through it.
Ice skating, snow tubing, ice bumper cars, real reindeer encounters, drinking hot chocolate by the fire, and looking at loads of Christmas lights outside were a hit with our family. Every year our kids look forward to racing each other while they snow tube. There is definitely enough to do outside at Pinetop for an afternoon or evening of fun-filled holiday festivities.
While there is SO much to do outside, there’s SO much to do inside the resort as well.
A trip on the Delta River Boat is always a favorite! You almost forget that you’re in the middle of a resort when you’re on this. We highly suggest taking this ride in the evenings after it is dark. All the Christmas lights are beautiful during that time of day and the decorations pop even more!
Another great activity to do as a family is decorating gingerbread houses. Our younger two especially loved this activity. We had a gingerbread house competition between boys and girls and guess who won?
Socially distanced meet and greet with your favorites like the favorite gingerbread man and Santa himself are also a fun option.
The Merry Snoopy Scavenger Hunt, Build a Bear Workshop experience, breakfast with Charlie Brown & Friends also make for amazing holiday memories.
On Friday and Saturday evenings, hang out in the Magnolia Lobby by the fireplace and listen to Frankie Sutton play the piano. She may be the BEST piano player we have ever heard — and it’s all by ear — she doesn’t read music. Simply amazing and what a treat that was for us.
What a full two days we had but what fun it was creating even more memories at Gaylord Opryland. Staying at the resort is always a favorite of ours and makes it even more of an experience.
If you’re going back and forth on whether you should spend the night or just come for the day, we suggest spending the night at Gaylord Opryland. It makes the experience even more special and what sweet memories you’ll have of your little getaway.
