My good friend Sue over at The Homeschool Chick is hosting a meme called The Homeschool Mothers Journal. It’s an amazing idea for all you homeschool families out there. How would you answer the same writing prompts she provides? I’m excited to keep record and go back to read my “Homeschool Mothers Journal”
In my life this week…
This week has been one of those that you can’t seem to remember what all was involved because you had so much going on. We have had so much going on this week as a family and then there is the story of my communities online that I’m a part of. It seems like everytime I turn, there is a new door opened – and for the good. Praise the Lord for that! I’m excited for the things happening with Hip Homeschool Moms, Pixosphere, and 3 In 30….not to mention my own personal blog right here.
One of my goals for this year was to learn more about photography. My husband is an amazing photographer – thou he doesn’t do it for a living, he could for sure. So, I’m trying to learn some tips from him as well as from other resources such as I Heart Faces, ClicknMoms, and various blogs. (Got any good books you’d recommend on photography and learning a few new tricks?)
In our homeschool this week…
We are in PreK this year (although I think we should’ve started with K, but we’ll be there in the fall). My son just turned 5 and is reading books already. This is the biggest thing that I have just been shocked with this week by him. He will take a book at the grocery store, Target, or library and read it’s entirety. Granted its not a huge Boxcar Children chapter book, I am amazed by his eagerness to read at only 5 (turned 5 yesterday). He is doing so well with addition and subtraction and writing as well. I *heart* homeschooling!
Places we’re going & people we’re seeing…
We have no field trips scheduled yet for this semester although I’m sure that will change pretty soon. We travel alot as a family, so every trip we take is a learning experience and we’re “in the classroom” when we travel – by means of learning wherever we go-
My favorite thing this week was…
The beautiful snow. Nashville usually doesn’t have long snows or cold, cold temp
eratures. However, this winter has been unusual. We were “snowed in” this past week on Friday and had so much fun sledding, ice skating on our driveway, and giving thanks to the one who sent the snow. What an awesome God we serve!

What’s working/not working for us…
What’s working for us that I just love love love? Teach Your Child To Read In 100 Easy Lessons. Woah, does this book work like magic! I highly recommend it to any parent!
Homeschool questions/thoughts I have…
I am on the hunt for the perfect curriculum for Kindergarden. I thought we were going to use Sonlight, but I think I’ve changed my mind. My sister (who has been homeschooling for over 8 years) has recommended Heart Of Dakota or Five In A Row for Kindergarden. Do any of you have experience with either of these? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
