After a late night swim the night before and sleeping in the next morning, we all were rested and headed down to breakfast. Can I just say the breakfast at The Chattanoogan is amazing and definitely worth the money? We stay at a lot of hotels. We travel a lot. So, we’ve had plenty breakfast buffets to try out. The breakfast at The Chattanoogan is fresh and so tasty!
Did you know that all the ingredients and food at Broad Street Grille is bought at a local farmers market twice a week? No frozen foods at this restaurant! {which is another reason why I love The Chattanoogan}
After breakfast, I had an appointment for a manicure/pedicure at The Chattanoogan Spa. Goodness! Talk about being pampered. This spa is considered a full day spa {and I wish I had spent an entire day there…that’s a good excuse to go back I guess}. It’s A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.
I’m used to manicures and pedicures taking no more than an hour. Guess how long this one was? 2 hours! They definitely pampered me.
The Chattanoogan Spa has been providing professional spa services to the Chattanooga community for more than 10 years. A full-service day spa, The Chattanoogan Spa has four treatment rooms, a steam room, sauna, whirlpool, indoor pool, fitness center, and Spa Terrace overlooking the hotel’s courtyard. Before or after receiving spa treatments, guests may relax on the Spa Terrace, enjoying a refreshing beverage or light meal.
Today was the day we were going to visit the aquarium. We blocked out the entire afternoon and early evening to give us time to go through the Tennessee Aquarium and to go to an IMAX movie.
It took us about 2-3 hours to go through both buildings of the aquarium. I asked my boys later that day what their favorite thing was about the aquarium and they couldn’t decide. Was it the Bird Show where exotic birds flew over our heads? Was it stomping through the little stream outside the aquarium? Was it the sharks and sting rays? Their answer? “We liked it all, Mommy!”
The Tennessee Aquarium is home to a richly diverse living collection of the world’s most fascinating animals. Inside the River Journey building, visitors are delighted by feisty river otters, colorful frogs, amazing turtles and freshwater fish species such as beautiful trout, giant catfish and prehistoric-looking sturgeon. While exploring Ocean Journey, guests experience tropical and marine habitats. Hyacinth macaws call out from a lush rainforest as visitors come face to face with big, toothy sharks, beautiful butterflies, playful penguins, mesmerizing jellyfish and thousands of colorful reef fish. Aquarium educators also introduce guests to dozens of other species during hourly Animal Encounter programs.
The IMAX movie was definitely an experience. Our boys loved it and my husband had never been to an IMAX movie. We had tickets to see To The Arctic 3D but for some reason just a little bit before the movie was beginning they were having technical problems so we saw Tornado Alley instead. I was a little nervous about having the boys see this since my oldest is pretty scared of storms. However, he wasn’t scared in the least bit. It was more of a documentary about how people study the storms than actual tornado footage {which I was kind of hoping to see more of}. It probably wasn’t our favorite IMAX movie but we definitely would like to go back and see To The Arctic 3D.
The Tennessee Aquarium was definitely a highlight of the trip for our family.
We had dinner that night at the Broad Street Grille.
It was the same place that we had breakfast earlier that morning. We were thinking we would be in and out without a problem because it wasn’t a busy night for the restaurant. While the food was soooo good, it took 2 hours to have dinner. Two hours for dinner is great with me, if we don’t have kids with us. However, with three kids {and two of them begging to go swimming}, two hours was a little long. They did great, but were definitely antsy after the first hour.
The food? Outstanding! So fresh and tasty! I had the filet with lobster mac-n-cheese, and asparagus. I also had a caesar salad and as an appetizer we ordered the Scallops and Risotto.

It wouldn’t be an end to an awesome day without another late night swim. Yes, we promised them we’d go swimming that evening no matter what, so what did we do? All put on our bathing suits at 9pm and headed to the “blue pool” {as my 3 year old calls it}. Why does he call it the “blue pool?” See our first day in Chattanooga – and enter the giveaway for Rock City and Ruby Falls.
