I know. I sound like a horrible, mean mom. I approached my oldest {because that is one of his favorite shows} last week letting him know that he wouldn’t be able to watch Good Luck Charlie, {a popular sitcom on the Disney Channel} anymore.
Of course, he questioned why.
Good Luck Charlie will feature lesbian parents during the final episode of the fourth season.
We didn’t go into detail as to the exact reasoning because we don’t feel he’s at an age where he needs to know about all that, but told him there were some new things they were adding to the show that we didn’t think were good for him to see or know about.
As a parent, I feel this is my job {you may or may not agree with our method of parenting, but I’m fine with that} and this may not be a big deal to you or your family, but to us, it’s a HUGE deal! Just a little warning for other families out there who might want to slam on brakes with this show as well.

I agree with you, matter of fact, I wrote a post about it too. I is so frustrating, but notice that Disney is doing this at the end of the show’s final season. That way it’s kinda buried and when the ratings are bad, they can say the ratings were down anyway and they were ending the show. I think it’s really sad that Disney and everything else they own feels as thought they have to make this acceptable. I put the link to my post above if you want to check it out. You have to be diligent for your children and if no one else likes it, then that’s ok 🙂

ROCK ON, MAMA! We actually stopped letting our children watch any tv on the Disney channel. It breaks my heart.

Thank you for the information. We don’t watch it much, but have from time to time. Not a bridge I think we should cross yet with my little ones.

I have not seen Good Luck Charlie. Even if others disagree with you, God has not entrusted your children to them; He has entrusted your children to YOU and your husband.

Good for you Meghan. We actually stopped watching the show about a year ago because I was so disgusted by the child/parent role reversal…and how the mother was the one who was unethical and needed the most discipline. It saddens me that these shows propagate disrespect towards parents. Though I’m not too surprised at this new addition. It is the way society is going and Disney just cant be left behind. We don’t need the gov and public schools (yes my children are in the Ps system) to indoctrinate them…just leave it to the fun entertainment to desensitize them.

I actually had us stopping watching that show and all other non-cartoon kids shows a couple of years ago because they place such a huge emphasis on dating relationships for young kids. I am trying to give my kids a different perspective on dating than I had growing up and those shows certainly weren’t helping! Sad to see them now take things even father.

What a shame Disney, why did you have to ruin such a cute show! That will be off our TV as well.

Disney has not been an option for my kids for a LONG time — I find most of their shows just not a good way for my kids to spend their time.

This is one reason we have turned off cable and watch maybe one show through streaming every week. Society is busy at sharing their truth across the air waves, and it confuses children – and adults. I am so proud of you for not only making this stand, but sharing it with others.

Thanks for the heads-up!

Parents have every right to filter what their children watch. This woman never said she hated gays or anything like that discussions like these should be up to the parents. Children are aware of different lifestyles, but some parents feel it’s their job to teach them. She isn’t discriminating against anyone. She is allowed to believe what she wants just as you are allowed to believe what you want. I personally think this kind of parenting is wrong, but i would still make them aware that it exists.
I’m sure she will teach her kids that it exists, but she doesn’t have to agree with the lifestyle.
They’re just showing Diversty.
I am a strong christain and I strongly agree with you! It is so bad that they are trying to put things in our childerns minds like that! I don’t care who you are it is wrong!! Jesus loves you! 🙂
